Abakundakawa water programme is the first project that DWRF are considering. The Abakundakawa co-operative is a Fairtrade farmers group producing some of the finest coffee in Rwanda.

The Abakundakawa co-operative peoples have a harsh choice to make; have water for the household or have water to process coffee and bring much needed income to the community. DWRF are seeking to partner with Transfair USA and the Clinton Hunter Development Initiative to ensure that efficient water infrastructure can be accessed by the community. In this way the needs of the broader community can be met while maximising farmer's income from coffee.
